Florida Cancer Specialists Physician Dr. Rasha Beg, who practices at the Deland, Lake Mary Rinehart and Oviedo locations, was nominated by the Central Florida Chapter of LLS. Dr. Rasha Beg shared, “This organization funds critical research that translates into improved therapies, patient programs and survival rates for blood cancers. I am truly honored to accept the challenge for the Central Florida LLS 2019 Woman of the Year.”

Dr. Raul Storey, who practices in Vero Beach & Sebastian, FL was nominated by the Palm Beach Chapter of LLS.  “As a medical oncologist and hematologist,” Dr. Storey said, “I have tremendous respect for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.  In addition to research, LLS provides patient programs that truly make a difference for those battling blood cancer. With everyone’s support, my efforts will help fund more therapies and programs that are making a difference in patients’ lives."

Dr. Renjitha Ignatius added, “I am personally honored to be nominated, along with my colleagues at FCS, to help raise funds for this vital research and patient programs. LLS lessens the burden for our patients and families through education and financial assistance. Through their partnership with oncologists like me, LLS works hard to make a difference in the lives of those living with hematologic malignancies.”  Dr. Ignatius, who sees patients in Tampa, was nominated by the Suncoast Florida Chapter.

FCS Regional Director of Operations Anne Ronco, said, “I have witnessed firsthand cancer’s impact on patients and their loved ones while with Florida Cancer Specialists and in my personal life.  I have felt the reverberating effect on my family’s life through my mother-in-law’s battle against cancer.  Even so, I see the hope and perseverance gained through the knowledge that there are patient resources and treatments available today due to organizations like the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. During my LLS Woman of the Year campaign, my goal is to work as hard as I can to ensure that necessary treatments and patient resources provide hope to families and those battling cancer in diverse communities all over the world.”
