Elizabeth Blowers, MD, PhD
Dr. Blowers is a medical oncologist and hematologist with Florida Cancer Specialists & Research Institute in Martin County.
Dr. Blowers completed her residency in Internal Medicine at the University of Nebraska Medical Center, where she received the Caring Physician Award in recognition of her dedication to patient care. During residency, she conducted research in thoracic oncology and quality improvement initiatives focused on early palliative care and goals-of-care discussions for patients with aggressive forms of cancer. She also served as a resident leader on the Internal Medicine Clinic Board, working to improve clinic operations and patient care.
Dr. Blowers earned both her Doctor of Medicine and Doctor of Philosophy in Cancer Research from the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, Nebraska. During graduate school and medical training, her research focused on developing novel targeted therapies for cancer, resulting in multiple peer-reviewed publications and international presentations. She also enjoyed mentoring undergraduate and high school students in the laboratory, helping foster the next generation of physician-scientists and cancer researchers.
She completed her fellowship in Hematology and Oncology at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. During fellowship her research focused on expanding access to genetic testing for patients with cancer. During fellowship, she also served as a Board Fellow for the North Carolina Oncology Association, contributing to advocacy efforts and gaining experience in healthcare policy, physician leadership, and improving access to high-quality cancer care across the state.
She is committed to providing compassionate, evidence-based care and partnering with patients and their families as they navigate cancer and blood disorders. Dr. Blowers believes in developing individualized treatment plans that reflect each patient’s goals, values, and the latest advances in cancer care and works closely with multidisciplinary care teams to ensure patients receive coordinated, compassionate care throughout their treatment journey.
Throughout her career, Dr. Blowers has remained committed to cutting-edge research, education, mentorship, and advocacy. She values building meaningful relationships with her patients, colleagues, and community and believes that listening, clear communication, and shared decision-making are essential to delivering exceptional cancer care and ensuring a powerful next generation of physicians and scientists.
