Amanda Olson, MD
Medical Director, Late-Phase Clinical ResearchAmanda Olson, MD serves as medical director of the FCS Late-Stage Clinical Research Program. As a medical oncologist and hematologist, she specializes in stem cell transplantation, cellular therapies and hematologic malignancies. Dr. Olson is dual board-certified in hematology and internal medicine and is based in Pinellas County.
Her clinical and research interests focus on cord blood transplantation, cellular immunotherapy, viral-specific T-cell therapies, mesenchymal stem cell therapies and improving outcomes for patients undergoing hematopoietic stem cell transplantation.
A nationally recognized researcher, Dr. Olson has served as principal investigator and co-investigator on numerous clinical trials evaluating novel cellular therapies, stem cell transplantation approaches and regenerative medicine applications. She has authored or co-authored more than 60 peer-reviewed publications and has presented her research at leading national and international conferences, including meetings of the American Society of Hematology, American Society for Transplantation and Cellular Therapy and International Society for Cell & Gene Therapy.
After earning her medical degree from the Medical College of Georgia, Dr. Olson completed her internship and residency in Internal Medicine at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas. She then completed a fellowship in Hematology and Oncology at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York. She joined MD Anderson Cancer Center in 2013 and has held multiple academic leadership positions throughout her tenure, including serving on national committees and advisory boards dedicated to advancing cellular therapy and transplantation research.
Dr. Olson is an active member of several professional organizations, including the American Society of Clinical Oncology, American Society of Hematology, Society of Hematologic Oncology and the International Society for Cellular Therapy. She has received numerous honors for her clinical, research and academic contributions, including recognition from MD Anderson Cancer Center and the University of Georgia.
