Maxwell Tran, MD

Dr. Tran is a radiation oncologist with Florida Cancer Specialists & Research Institute in Sumter County.

He earned his medical degree from Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas, completed a residency in neurosurgery at the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis, Minnesota, and went on to complete a fellowship in radiation oncology at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston, South Carolina.

Dr. Tran is board certified in radiation oncology and is committed to providing personalized, comprehensive cancer care. He works closely with patients and their care teams to develop individualized treatment plans designed to meet each patient’s unique needs. He has held prior leadership positions such as Ethics Committee Chair and received the 2025-2026 Outstanding Outpatient Physician Award at Holzer Health System. He has also published and presented on a variety of topics related to oncology and quality improvement.

Dr. Tran has an interest in quality improvement, operations, strategy, and leadership, and is completing a Master of Business Administration at the Kelley School of Business at Indiana University. He is passionate about education and mentorship of the next generation of medical providers.

Dr. Tran is a member of the American Society for Therapeutic Radiology and Oncology (ASTRO), American College of Radiation Oncology and American College of Radiology.

Outside of work, he enjoys basketball, pickleball, and exploring new places with his wife Morgan.
