Michael J. Poiesz, MD
Dr. Poiesz is a medical oncologist and hematologist with Florida Cancer Specialists & Research Institute in Pensacola.
After earning his medical degree from the State University of New York (SUNY) Upstate Medical University in Syracuse, New York, Dr. Poiesz completed his residency in Internal Medicine at Tufts Medical Center in Boston, Massachusetts. He then completed a fellowship in Hematology and Oncology at New York University Medical Center in New York, New York. He is board-certified in internal medicine, hematology and medical oncology.
Dr. Poiesz provides comprehensive care for patients with cancer and blood disorders, offering expertise in both hematology and medical oncology. He has extensive experience in both outpatient and inpatient settings, including infusion therapy and hospital-based consultation. Prior to joining Florida Cancer Specialists, he served as an attending physician and assistant professor of medicine, caring for a diverse patient population and contributing to multidisciplinary cancer programs.
Dr. Poiesz is actively involved in clinical research and has contributed to multiple publications and academic presentations focused on hematologic malignancies and novel therapeutic approaches
