Several FCS Cancer Survivors shared their heart and special words that describe their cancer journey and experience as a cancer survivor. Many of these words are what help Cancer Survivors endure day by day. A word cloud was developed to honor their fight and survival while also honoring yours as well. The Cancer survivors sharing these meaningful and heartfelt words that highlight a shared experience wanted to encourage and acknowledge others also navigating similar circumstances. Perhaps you are continuing to endure years as a cancer survivor. You may be newly diagnosed or just beginning your cancer treatment journey. You may even be right in the middle of your cancer treatment process or have been told you are cancer free; but feel an ongoing anxiety about recurrence. The words you will see in this word cloud echo many lived experiences. Words like tears, it’s okay to cry, anger and grief are challenging but true and accurate descriptions of the emotions and experiences of cancer survivors.
Wherever you find yourself emotionally today in your cancer journey; please know that you are seen, heard, valued and acknowledged for the fight you are fighting. Let this word cloud encourage you and remind you to stay hopeful, that tears are okay, fight, beat cancer and do it afraid! I encourage you to find a special word or two, or more, that acknowledges your experience and encourages you daily. Hold on to an encouraging word to give you hope for the days ahead. Are there other words you might add? Please share your thoughts!
Always know that while you endure this experience or journey; however you choose to call your cancer experience, you are a survivor! The Behavioral Health team honors your life and your fight and can walk with you and encourage you through all your experiences. There are support groups specifically for our FCS cancer patients and for caregivers where you and your loved ones can find community and a safe place to share and receive encouragement.
