Language Assistance Services
FCS provides patients with free access to qualified medical interpreters through our partner, TransPerfect, to help ensure clear and accurate communication. Live interpretation is available by phone in more than 35 languages. Video interpretation for American Sign Language (ASL) is also available.
In-person interpreters can be arranged by appointment when needed. To protect patient safety and ensure accuracy, bilingual FCS team members are not permitted to interpret medical conversations between patients and providers.
To request
If you need an interpreter for your appointment, please let your clinic know as early as possible in advance or inform staff at check-in. FCS will make reasonable efforts to arrange language services based on your needs. Interpreter services may be available in different formats, including over the phone, video remote, or in-person interpretation, depending on availability and the nature of the visit.
Document Translation Services
FCS may provide translation of patient medical documents when needed. Translation services are coordinated through the patient’s clinic and are subject to internal review and approval.
To request
If you need a document translated, please contact your clinic directly. There is no cost to the patient for this service. Once the translation is completed, the document will be uploaded to the patient’s medical record.
Wavier Information
If a patient does not wish to use FCS’ translation services and instead chooses to use a family member or friend as their interpreter, patient may be asked to sign a waiver related to language assistance services. FCS staff will explain this if it applies to your situation.
